Software that can be requested for a computer (and how to do it)
Some people never have to ask for anything "extra" on their machines.
It is NOT possible to purchase a CD and install it on KISD machines. When you desire to use a resource that is not already on the machine, determine which of these categories to which it belongs:
It's an approved software title, for which you and/or your students are approved and a tech support request will put it on your computer.
It's an approved software title, for which you and/or your students are approved and it should have already been pushed to your computer. A tech support request also rectifies this.
It's not an approved software title, and you will need to go through the software approval process to get it approved, packaged, then available for district computers by request. You start this process by downloading the software approval form from http://katynet
It's not an approved software title, and it has already gone through the software approval process and been dismissed. You can check on the status of software titles by going to http://katynet > District Information > District Software List
Your ITF completes a spreadsheet at the end of the year which "pre-requests" specific software titles (beyond the standard) for computers in the building. An attempt is made to plan for everything you might need at that time, but it's a good idea to check your computers at the beginning of the year (after reimaging) to see if you have the software you expect.
Please don't wait until the day you plan to use something, only to find out a mistake was made!
